The chart above shows the distribution of Qi. Using this chart, the practitioner will be able to predict and tell you past events as if he knows everything. This method is known as Xuan Kong Flying Star.
Correlating the chart to the floor plan, ‘A’ door is receiving 39 Qi. The Qi manifestation suggest he is shrewd and mean.
‘B’ door is receiving 17 Qi. The Qi manifestation usually points to Taohua issues.
(The manifestations are well documented in classics such as 飞星赋, 紫白诀, 玄机赋, 玄空秘旨)
Enthusiast Level
#7(Theft/discord) is intrinsically malefic. Its Qi is associated to Period 7 which has lapsed. Therefore, it is seen as inauspicious in this Fengshui era.
#9 (fame/joyous event) is generally neutral but because its Qi is future Period 9, therefore it is perceived as prosperous. Therefore, ‘A’ has a better FS than ‘B’
If your analysis follows along these lines, congratulations you now at the enthusiast level. Unfortunately, you are about 30% correct in your assessments.
Intermediate Level
In 2017, #8 (wealth) arrived at ‘A’ door (39). It interacts and form 98. Wow joyous event + wealth, ‘A’ may expect pay rise or promotion. On the other hand, #6 (status/power) arrive at ‘B’ door (17). But it forms combo 76. Career challenges as a result of competition is imminent…
In 2018, #7 arrived at ‘A’ door. It forms the combo 97 which suggest health issue (likely respiratory) or Taohua as well … On the other hand, #5 (disaster, the most malefic) and 3 Killings arrive coincidently at ‘B’ door. Issues such as accident, wealth loss and health are imminent. It forms combo 75 suggest health issue (respiratory) or having addiction related issues…
If your analysis follows along these lines, well done as you are able to predict events and you are probably between enthusiast and intermediate. But unfortunately, you are at most half correct with your predictions.
However, if you are able to point out ‘A’ will encounter career challenges in 2018 while ‘B’ has a smooth career all this while, you are definitely at intermediate level and if not a practitioner.
Professional Level
If you are able to point out ‘A’ will get demoted in 2018 but his career will still be as good as ‘B’ you are definitely at professional level.
You may have spotted and wondered why one of combo number (e.g. 3 is ignored in 39) is being ignored in assessing yearly events? I am not prepared to share with you the reasons. It involves discussion on sensitive intricacies that could spawn unnecessary debates on authenticity of method/sects whatever...etc
Anyway, I am using a much simple chart (Annual bound Taisui aka Purple white flying star) during the assessment (see Annex)
‘C’ is my client and recently I understand from her that ‘A’ is still sitting in this office room instead of moving to one of the staff cubicles. At this point he is enjoying the same privilege as ‘B’ even though his appointment has been removed!
Hence, you should know why she was advised to select ‘C’ as her work cubicle. Now what can you say about ‘D’ career? It should be obvious to you by now…
Summary
If you are unable to predict correctly, unfortunately this means that your Feng Shui skill remains at the enthusiast level.
The key to the predictions lies in:
1) Period vs Yearly vs Form (形)
2) What does 'flying' the stars means?
3) What does a combo tuple pair/trio entails?
The main reason why most practitioners are unable to predict correctly for this example is because they focus too much on combo tuples or chart formation.
To the enthusiasts, you can never learn XKLF from books or internet but for sure, the more you read, the more you will confuse...
