A different naked eye system ? (Part 2)

The following is a re-blog from www.yxlfengshui.com
Naked Eye formula - 4 Celestial Anaimals
I thought it would be more complete to share with you guys with a bit more on the Yi logic 易理 behind the Naked eye system. In particular, we will explain how the Yin Yang relationship for the 4 celestial animals (Green Dragon青龍, White Tiger 白虎, Black Tortoise 玄武and Red Phoenix 朱雀) are being defined for a site. These animals respectively denotes the Left, Right, Back and Front of a site.
First of all let us look at what is meant by Yin (隂) and Yang (陽) but due to the abstractness of the concept I will just state their features as follows:
  • Yin possesses the properties: Still (静), absorb/receptive(吸收) has a form(有形), internal(内), self (我) and therefore perceived as a ‘body’ (体). Let us termed it as Yin body.
  • Yang possesses the properties: Movement(動), disperse/radiating(散/發射), formless(無形), external(外), others (他) and therefore perceived as a ‘force field’ known as ‘Qi’ (气). Let us termed it as Yang Qi.
As mentioned in my previous blog, Naked eye (形家長眼法) Feng Shui system is developed from Hetu (河图) as shown.
Briefly, the Hetu is divided into 3 layers:
  • 1, 2, 3 & 4 are known as producing numbers (生数) and they form the inner arrangement. Inner is Yin therefore it represent a 'form' a 'body'
  • 6, 7, 8 & 9 are known as forming numbers (成数) and they form the outer arrangement. Outer is Yang therefore it represent the 'formless' Qi and in layman it is known as force field.
  • 5 reside in the kernel and is the separation distance between producing and forming numbers for e.g. 1(producing) + 5(kernel) = 6(forming). As such, this draws the distinction between inner and outer arrangement, which gives rise to an important concept in Yi where the inner (Yin) and outer (Yang) arrangements are used separately (生成分用).
  • Odd numbers (单数) 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 are Yang while Even numbers (偶数) 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 are Yin.
Let us imagine a Man (人) is lying on top of the Hetu as shown. Therefore, taking the Man as the subject reference, the inner arrangement of producing numbers represents his entire body that has a visible form (Yin body). Here comes the fun part. Let us consider the Hetu's inner and outer arrangement separately. We first look at the internal. The position of 1 which is Yang (agile) is located at the front with the legs, 2 being Yin (restricted agility) is at the back with the head, 4 being Yin is at the left with the left hand (restricted agility) and 3 being Yang (agile) is at the right with the right hand. Now do you know why we mostly right handed and our head are not as agile as our legs! Denoting Yang as '+' and Yin as '-' we have established the Yin Yang cardinal relationship (Left, Right, Back & Front) of a 'body'  base on Hetu:
Besides facial or body features, we as human tends to associate our kind base on each individual's character (abstractformless). The outer arrangement of forming numbers represent the characteristics that ‘emanates’ out the body. For example a person’s thinking capability (fast or slow thinker), specialization, habit, temper, moral values, inter-personal relationship, wealth, career etc.
You may be wondering how Hetu is linked to a person's character? Before we come to that, let us look at the Hetu's forming arrangement. We group the forming numbers according to even and odd. Using the same notation '-' as Yin for (6 & 8) and '+' as Yang for (7 & 9).
Yin is receptive and exhibit accumulative image. This means habit and specialization are Yin. Yang has a ‘kinetic’ nature therefore promotes the ability to innovate and visualize. This means thinking capability and intellectual are Yang.
By induction, we can also assess a person’s inter-personal relationship using the same logic. For example, Yin which exhibits a passive relationship. Therefore a kid (need to be raised), friend (need to be engaged) and woman (needs to be wooed) and they are categorized as Yin. Similarly, Yang exhibits a proactive relationship and so elder (take care of young), nobleman (help the needy) and man (woo the wife). So now you should know the reason why it is always the man propose marriage to woman and very seldom the opposite and why woman look for sense of security in a man.....
A person’s achievement in terms of wealth, career, and nobility can also be deduced with the same logic. For example, a person’s wealth (I earned from others) and career (I built) is Yin. A person’s nobility (titles suc as Tan Seri is other bestowed upon me) is Yang. Likewise for status/rank which is appointed by others too
So how do we apply the logic in Naked eye Feng Shui? Before we discussed the application we need to invoke a very important concept in Yi logic: single Yin can’t produce while Yang alone can’t grow (孤阴不生,独阳不长). As you may have already observed that the Hetu is built on balanced pairs of odd even numbers: (1,6), (2,7), (3,8), (4,9) & (5,10) leading to the principle of Yin Yang attracts (阴阳相吸) while same Yin Yang polarity will repel like in magnets.
Hence, with reference to a Man, the head (back) and left side require ‘stillness’ (Yin). If this condition is fulfilled, Yin Yang attracts, the outer arrangement of which represent this person characteristics (force field): thinking capability, elder, man, nobility etc will be lured to this body. Since Yin and Yang is balanced, we will know that this person thinking is sharp, has good relationship with elders/superiors, capable and hold high in appointments etc. However, if the back and left is subjected to ‘movement’ (Yang) this means it will repel the outer arrangement (characteristics). Therefore we know that this person is poor in thinking, does not get support from elder/superior, hold low appointments etc.
Similarly the legs (front) and right side requires ‘movement’ (Yang). If this condition is fulfilled, Yin Yang attracts, the outer arrangement that represents specialization, habits, friends, woman, wealth and career will be lured to this body. Since Yin and Yang is balanced, we know that this person has good habits, qualified specialization, enjoy warm relationship with juniors, receive strong support from friends, progressing careers and makes money etc. However, if the front and right is kept ‘still’ (Yin) this means it will repel the outer arrangement force field. Therefore we know that this person has fetish, incompetent skills, prone to arguments with juniors, receive weak support from friends, prone to obstructions in career and unable to accumulate wealth. Yi logic is easy isn't it?
The following is one of my audit case on office Feng Shui.  By looking at the decor arrangement what can you infer about my client?
My client is a researcher. Her work requires good focus and thinking. The desk is where she carried out her work and therefore we will reference to the person who is using the desk. What we need to do is to check whether this person's left, right, front and back whether they conform to the Yin(Still) Yang(movement) requirements.
Her left and back is surrounded by a wall which is 'Still' and conforms to the Yin Yang requirements. Hence, we know that she thinks well, and receive support from bosses.  Next the door entrance is where all the movements are and while her immediate front is an open space and therefore her right and front conform to Yin Yang requirements. So we know when comes to work she is a specialist, probably meticulous (good habit) has good rapport with colleagues. Got it? 'See' Feng Shui is dead easy right?

A different naked eye system ?

The following is a re-blog from www.yxlfengshui.com
A local reader visited my blog posting on “Naked Eye at a glance”. He asked if I had made a mistake in my drawing.
In his email he attached the above clips and highlighted to me that the left side (Green Dragon) represented ‘Man’ so it should be Yang while the right (White Tiger) which would be woman and should be ‘Yin’. A harmonious Feng Shui house is Yin Yang balanced and required both the back and right conform to Yin while the front and left conform to Yang as depicted. Therefore, the left side being ‘Yang’ open spaces was preferred while the right being ‘Yin’ preferred buildings.
In my reply, I told him he was correct in his logic but there was no mistake made in my drawing. The fundamental difference between the 2 systems pops out because mine was derived from Yi (易) logic’s Hetu (河图). He should not worry about it.
Anyway I pointed out the following conflicting points in his logic:
Right is Woman which is Yin therefore shouldn’t the right preferred Yang instead to achieve the Yin Yang balance (隂陽相吸)?
Building or mountain which is already Yin by nature and hence by having them on right side (White Tiger) won’t it amplify Yin? No doubt it prosper woman, but note that White Tiger side also means petty people. Therefore, shouldn't there be more arguments and how harmonious can such house be?
Road or open space which is Yang by nature and hence by having them on the left side (Green Dragon) and shouldn't it end up promoting Yang. Because Yang is radiating by nature (阳主发射) this imply man will be ‘weakened’.
Hence according to the drawing(his) of a ‘well-balanced’ Yin and Yang, this suggest woman is in control and overpowering man (妻夺夫权). In such cases the likelihood of arguments are high (petty people) unless the husband doesn’t mind a capable wife earning more. But does the wife mind an incompetent husband in the longer term?
I am not saying our Naked eye system is correct and his logic is flawed. The point made here is that our system is based on Yi (易) and in which the Hetu( 河图) and the Early Heaven Gua (先天卦) are the 'toolkit' for it. Why? Because it serves just well (this is Yi principle too)! It is just like till today we use Newtonian physics to explain motion omitting relativity. Einstein did not create relativity to prove Newton wrong but merely expand the range of physical conditions over which the theory applied.
However, what is important is the Yi logic used in the deduction is constrained within Yi avoiding ambiguity like in his logic. Next, taking the example from my previous post, there is a famous Naked Eye quote: “龍边带路主犯偷盗” which means a premise is prone to theft if there is a road (Yang) on the Dragon side(Left). His logic will not be able to explain the theft .....

My Feng Shui goord or not?

During a recent gathering, one of my friends pulled me to a corner and drew me a site plan as shown. Then he asked the usual question: ‘my unit Feng Shui good or not’.  My immediate response was ‘how would I know…’. Noting he was kind of annoyed by my comments, I tried to cool him and so I told him:
“The good momentum you had been enjoying over the past years had started to lose steam and you need to be more prudent in the forthcoming years...”
He nodded and told me he was doing very well until recently challenges just popped out of nowhere …
Anyway I gave him some pointers and I thought we were done. But he persisted with me to look at his neighbor unit (B) even though I had explained I could only assess on site and moreover it was not a good time to discuss such things... In a slip of tongue, he revealed he preferred A over B because A's main door was highly auspicious (The main door for ‘A’ & ‘B’ are receiving combo 86 & 14 Qi. They are good for wealth and academic respectively. Disclaimer: The number combo is unique to Flying star Feng Shui method. I take the door combo as face value and assumed he had done his part in plotting the Flying star chart)
Now I realized this guy had learned FS for quite a while. I was able to understand why he was so keen to find out what went wrong with his unit ... Here was what I explained to him:
The key to good Feng Shui was determined by the formation and whether it was receiving good Qi. Thus, whether the door was in an auspicious location or whether it is a prosperous facing were secondary. They merely add points to a prosperous site.
Although both A and B had balcony facing the pool, their Feng Shui formation were totally different because of the neighboring block.
In principle there were two aspects that had to be considered jointly: the proximity and dimension of the block.
For example, a relatively large block could have minimal influence if it was situated further away. On the other hand, the influence could be significant even with smaller dimension if both were sufficiently near… How large it should be and how near it should be located; there wasn’t any formula to compute. Therefore, how was it possible to describe such details in words?
Using apple as an analogy, the sweetness of an apple is only obvious when one takes a bite and tastes it. The same apply for Feng Shui where the formation is only clear when one ‘See’ for himself!
Now here comes the interesting part. As I continued to explain: “Suppose the other block was as long as the both A & B combined and was physically attached to B, I would be more confident to say B should be doing very well all these while….” he interrupted me and told me the block was in fact attached to B (did you see what I meant now; the drawing showed they were separated).
Next, he mentioned that he knew his neighbor was making money all this while. He was kind of puzzled why he was not making money especially this year. It should be a bountiful year for him because the wealth star #8 coincides at his door triggering wealth with combo 86 according to flying star calculations. I explained it was the formation in the right Period that determined the prosperity of the premise and whether #8 comes to your door or not were secondary
To ensure he really appreciate the importance of ‘Seeing’ on site, I challenged him to carefully think through the following would B still prospered:
  • if B was higher than the block,
  • if there was an empty column around the middle of the block,
  • if the block and B was not perpendicular to each other
Hence, in a formation there are numerous details which can only be made clear on site by ‘Seeing’….  I was glad that he finally understood and accepted my reasoning (At this juncture, he was silent and I was sure that he was taught to 'measure' but not to 'See' Feng Shui ).

Quiz: Suppose the block was physically attached to B and its length is as long as A, B & C combined. Would B still prosper? What about the impact on A? If you know the answers and able to explain with a logic, congratulations you are a step closer to 'See'......

Fire hazard Feng Shui

Have you ever wondered what type of Feng Shui attributes to a fire hazard? Before we talk about Feng Shui, let us take a look at the causes of fire from scientific perspective. According to National Fire Protection Association, fire requires 3 components oxygen (breathes on), heat (fire to reach ignition temperature) and fuel (eats on) to be present. This concept is usually depicted as the Fire triangle.
Together, they produce the chain reaction which results in formation of fire. In fact, the chain reaction is the 4th component that has been introduced recently to explain fire(Fire tetrahedron). It is seen as the feedback of heat to the fuel to produce gaseous fuel used in the flame. In other words, the chain reaction provides the heat necessary to maintain fire.
Coincidentally, the same elements apply for fire hazard Feng Shui. According to the Yi logic 易理, house is the fuel, wind is the oxygen, fire trigger is the heat and implicitly Tai Sui year facilitates the chain reaction.
I believe your next questions will be what are the land forms for the 4 components of fire and how do they look like? It is unfortunate and I apologize as I am not able to reveal here. But do take a close look at the recent fire incident that happened at Jurong West market. This is a classic fire hazard formation according to Naked Eye technique (形家長眼法).

If you are sharp enough, you may pose the question if any ignited objects such as stove, lighters, incense or electrical sparks suffice as the fire trigger? My answer is No. A fire trigger landform is needed. On the other hand, ignited objects are the physical cause of fire as a result of an action. Think about it they are different matters after all. That is why I always say Feng Shui is not science, it is the study of Feng 風and Shui 水 only…

Petty theft instead of robbery

Yesterday morning I passed by the Standard Chartered branch that was robbed in 7 July 2016. According to the media, a man allegedly handed a note over the counter at the branch and made off with tens of thousands of dollars.
There are few other neighboring banks but have you ever wondered why the robbery take place in Standard Chartered? The bank is facing North East about 60 over degrees which correspond to 寅 Yin in the Luopan. As 2016 is 丙申Bing Shen year many would blamed it to clashing with Taisui. Before you passed any judgement, both the Citibank and HSBC bank facing are fairly similar to Standard Chartered and why they are not affected? The answer lies in the land formation. According to the Naked Eye Feng Shui, this is a typical formation that usher petty theft although it is classified as robbery instead. Now what if Standard Chartered is not a bank but an ordinary shop and will the robber rob the neighboring banks instead? What do you think?

That's why I always tell people Feng Shui have to be 'Seen' and not measured. In this case if you recognized the form correctly, the Gua image can be deduced logically based on Yi 易. Thereafter, it is just a matter of when will the event occur and in this case it happen on Taisui clash year 寅申冲. This real life example depicts the importance of land form which comes first before Qi formula: "巒頭不真,理氣無用". However, on the other hand, form requires Qi and time as a trigger to set the event going.

House selection with Xin Yi Divination

3 Aug 2016, I was helping a friend to select apartment. However, I was unable to accompany him with the house viewings. I instructed him to app me the unit number at each premises.
The last viewing at 1641 hours, and according to the Gua I told him the unit's front and right side is co-joint to a neighbor unit. Apparently, there is a need to turn a corner to gain access to outside .
Hmm seems like I am wrong about a unit at the front and right side. Not quite I am actually right about it. Look at the following picture.

Are you a Feng Shui expert?

The ability to identify by looking which is the most prosperous shop along a stretch is considered basic skill in Feng Shui;
The ability to identify which has the highest net income along a stretch of shops is considered intermediate skill in Feng Shui;
The ability to identify which are the shops and at which years they make profit, even or loss is considered advance skill in Feng Shui,
However, if you can identify which are the shops that are affected and resulting in business failure due to the opening of neighboring shop, you are considered an expert.
Which level are you at?

Quiz: By looking at the picture, are you able to identify which hairstyle saloon, A or B has better business?
